Galaxy cup winners match report-

Sarisbury Sparks 1-2 Solent Sports Galaxy

On a Blustery Spring evening at Havant’s Westleigh Park Stadium we locked horns against Sarisbury Sparks in the league cup final, unfortunately missing our captain Frank who was harshly suspended for a red card 2 weeks ago against Sarisbury in the league it was going to be a difficult task against our big physical opponents.

Sarisbury started on top and we looked nervous early on but Charles Asiedu in goal was alert to everything they threw at us, then 22 mins in Nathan Pennicott broke the deadlock in typical Nath fashion hunting down the Sarisbury GK to put us 1-0 up, we then unfortunately lost Kenny to injury after a nasty late tackle which went unpunished, 27 mins in and Sarisbury broke and equalised after a pouncing on a mistake by us to make it 1-1… an important 10 mins followed as we were backs against the wall and the injured Charlie in goal pulled off some unbelievable saves….38 mins we then won a free kick down the right side, Hayden Parker’s cross was cut out and it came back out to him on the edge of the box and he buried a rocket 🚀 to give the GK no chance and to put us 2-1 up… HT came at a good time for us, we regrouped and spoke to the lads about being strong and compact for the 2nd half and we also had Steve the Chairman and Marc the youth Sec from The Club giving some support to the lads at HT in the changing room….The 2nd half started and it was a real slog fest and there were very few chances, again Charlie was alert to everything they threw at us, our opponents played into our hands and after 15 mins of the 2nd half you could feel them getting frustrated and they stopped playing football and it was a physical battle and it and the lads stood tall and fully deserved to bring home the trophy, great celebrations at the end and brilliant way to end the season 🏆⚽️

Charlie GK, captain for the night in Franks absence, played with an injured wrist and didn’t put a glove wrong, 10/10 and deserved committees Man Of the Match

Archie got the Nod to start at RB due to his work rate, couldn’t bring him off as he gave us 110% all game

Charlie M, Didn’t put a foot wrong and was alert to everything, strong as an Ox, did great at CB with Jake covering the absent Frank

Jake, Brought some composure to the back line when needed, Defended superbly and Faultless once again last night

Eden, Started nervously and was getting doubled up on by opponents but once he settled his 2nd half was one of his best performances for us, showed great grit against a strong RM

Kyron, Again started nervously and took a while to get going, that 2nd half was made for him, was a proper warrior in the middle of the park

Ruben, Got kicked about but really did well in the CDM role against some big lads, does a lot of unnoticed work and stopped the opposition playing last night, composed on the ball

Muzz, Difficult to start Muzz as sub as he’s a great player but I think he’s better once the game settles, he also does unnoticed work in the middle of the park and grafted 2nd half

Tom, Played well at RM and CM and really put a shift in for the team, didn’t let the opposition have it easy and did some really good stuff on the ball

Rio, had been off school with a cold for 2 days but dosed himself up and did really will in AM role, some great challenges and was great on the ball in tight areas

Hayden, has grown into these type of games the more he’s matured and he worked well out of possession put some good balls in and scored what was the winner with an absolute rocket 🚀

Ray, Couldn’t get into the game early on but again 2nd half he showed what he can do and was a menace down the right side and did really well late on drawing fouls and putting some good balls in

Kenny, Started well and was growing into the game, was starting to beat players for fun but unfortunately got taken out early on and supported the lads from the sidelines

Nath, Not many chances for Nath last night but his goal was from pure work rate which epitomises him and he again gave us 100% every minute he was on the pitch last night, defenders nightmare

Captain Fantastic and Player of the Match
