SSFC Mens League round up W3

Cup drama and league battles defined another action-packed Sunday for Solent Sports FC, featuring a nerve-shredding penalty shootout triumph, a brilliant cup upset against higher-division opposition, and hard-earned league points on home turf.

SSFC Titans 3 – 3 Netley Royals (Titans win 5–4 on pens) (Home | Southampton FA Junior Cup)

The Titans booked their place in the next round after coming through a breathless cup tie that had virtually everything. The lads were in total control during a dominant first half, heading into the break 3–1 to the good thanks to a sharp brace from David Panjganj and a pinpoint Ollie Dye free kick.

Despite the Titans bossing proceedings for the vast majority of the 90 minutes, football proved just how cruel it can be in the second half. An unfortunate own goal handed Netley a route back into the contest before a highly questionable free kick with the final kick of the match was tucked away to send the tie to penalties. Justice was done in the shootout, however; the Titans held their nerve to win 5–4, anchored by a huge stop from Lewis Simmonds and an absolute screamer of a spot-kick from Harvin Madair to seal a thoroughly deserved progression.

SSFC Butchers 3 – 0 M&T

(Home | Southampton FA Junior B Cup)

The Butchers delivered arguably their standout performance of the season so far, producing a classic cup upset with an emphatic 3–0 win over M&T. Taking on a side from the division above, the Butchers were fearless from the first whistle, completely nullifying the visitors’ threats while remaining ruthless in the final third. A comprehensive three-goal cushion alongside a disciplined, well-earned clean sheet sends the Butchers marching into the next round with massive momentum.

SSFC Pompey 2 – 2 Portsbridge (Home | League)

Back on home soil in league action, SSFC Pompey shared the spoils with Portsbridge following a fiercely contested 2–2 draw. Both sides traded blows in an end-to-end clash where neither took a backwards step. While Pompey pushed hard for a late winner, they showed tremendous grit to ensure they came away with a hard-earned point to keep the league tally ticking over.

With two fantastic cup progressions secured and another point on the board, the club heads into training this week full of confidence ahead of next weekend’s fixtures.
