Solent Sports FC: Women

Welcome to the home of Solent Sports Womens Teams.

Solent Sports FC

About the teams

The womens team started in the 23/24 season after players from our recreational nights wanted something more competitve.

For the 24/25 season we have launched a development team which gives new players the chance to take the leep into league football.

In 2023 Solents Sports won the Lioness award for our services to womens football and award we’re very proud of in our first season.

Players

We are always looking to add players to our squads.
Our womens teams have two aims.
The first is to give female players a safe place to play and develop. The second aim is more for our div 3 team who have a stronger focus on playing to winning fairly.
But whatever reason you play we hope that we have created the best learning environment for you to progress, learn, and become the best player you can be.

If our squads are full, you are still welcome to train with us and join in any friendlies and the Play On league until a place becomes available. We also have our recreational pathway which is aimed at beginners.

We are very supportive of players who want to take the next steps in football and are active in supporting players to progress. In the past two seasons, we have arranged a number of trials for our players at professional teams.

We provide a minimum of one training session a week and expect players to be working on fitness and ball skills in their own time. We also work with Coachability Coaches, who, for a small fee, provide extra 1:1 or small group sessions.

For players who want to get into coaching or referring, please speak to your coach, and we can then explore these options, especially for older players who would like to earn some extra pocket money.

Our subs are £240 per year, split into manageable £20 monthly payments rolling over 12 months.
his includes:
-All training costs, including winter (3G or Astro) training.
-Game subs, including Play on, friendlies and some tournaments.
-Your own match kit which you keep, and a training top.

We have extra training kit that can be purchased from the club shop (link at the top of the page).
We also have a boot swap scheme to try and reduce waste and help with what can be the most expensive equipment.

Coaches

Good coaches who can develop young players are the lifeblood of grassroots football.
We are always searching for good coaches to join us, whether alone or with a team.
Our unique club structure allows for team development throughout the county.

We believe in investing in our coaches and cover the costs of all essential training courses and DBS checks.
We also support coaches in obtaining higher coaching qualifications whenever possible.

Our coaches are encouraged to register with the Coachability network to provide paid opportunities, with our Hamble ground even serving as a base for sessions.

If you would like to join us, please send us a message and we will invite you to the club to have a look around.
