SSFC Rangers 3–0 Nursling & Shirley
Rangers kicked off their campaign last weekend with a flying start.
With a full and fit squad, Rangers took control early and scored twice to put their opponents under pressure. They created several more opportunities before the break but couldn’t add to their advantage, going into half-time with a 2–0 lead.
Nursling changed their approach in the second half after struggling to find any success down the wings. They made positional changes and began attacking through the centre, but every attempt was denied by a very solid Rangers back line.
The match became increasingly physical, but Rangers defended their lead brilliantly. Hollee Lyons then found the back of the net for a third time to complete her hat-trick and secure a convincing 3–0 victory.
Rangers got the job done, kept a clean sheet and collected all three points—setting the standard for the season ahead.

SSFC Alliance 1–7 Pavilion Panthers
Solent Sports Alliance kicked off the new season with a brand-new look, from the management team to the players on the pitch.
The girls have barely had time to touch grass together, but they played with plenty of heart. During the opening 15 minutes, it looked as though nerves and tension might get the better of them.
Pavilion Panthers dominated the early proceedings, and a string of corners eventually resulted in the opening goal. That setback shook the new-look Alliance into action. Holly Miles twice went close with efforts from inside the box before Courtney saw her shot saved and scrambled clear.
Against the run of play, Panthers were then awarded a soft penalty, which they converted to leave Alliance with it all to do.
The girls regrouped at half-time and began the second half with a point to prove. Holly went close again following a lovely combination move through midfield, but her effort narrowly missed the target.
She wasn’t to be denied for much longer. Holly slalomed her way through the Panthers midfield, took on the centre-back and coolly slotted the ball into the far corner.
Game on!
Alliance dominated the following ten minutes but couldn’t find a way through for an equaliser. Once Pavilion scored their third, tired legs unfortunately began to take their toll. Four further goals during the final 25 minutes made the final scoreline far more flattering than the overall performance deserved.
Ultimately, the girls battled throughout and gave everything they had. Considering how little time this new team has had together, their performance was superb.
After the game, you wouldn’t have known which team had won. Morale remains sky-high, and this brilliant group is already looking forward to next week.
Player of the Match: Megan-Leigh Dixon
Megan-Leigh was absolutely everywhere—or, in the gaffer’s words, “like white on rice!”
